Why the Blog Name?

I have been thinking about starting a blog of my own for a while now. I write on the Stanford Women's Basketball Fast Break Club site, but that has to be basketball oriented and pretty low key on the opinion level. I love it, for sure, but I felt a bit stifled!

I get on blogger thinking, yep, I'm gonna do it! Then they ask you for a title. Immediate brain freeze. I can think of things to write most of the time, but a title that goes on for ever and ever?

I began to think about why I was doing it in the first place. As someone who loves to write, it is a gift of the Internets that you can just put some words down and publish it. It may get read, it may not, but it gets OUT there. It is proof that you can do and that you care enough to share it.

So I knew that I would do it because I can! But that was a bit dull. So I decided to pay homage to one of my favorite movies Moulin Rouge (and the lovely Ms. Kidman) and to one of my favorite Pointer Sisters songs ever by making it

BECAUSE I CAN CAN!

I hope that I feel inspired to write a bit each week and that it gives me the joy that I think it will.
